The Maremma or Maremmano-Abruzzese Shepherd Dog is a breed of mastiff originating in central Italy and used for centuries by shepherds to defend their flocks from wolves.

The Bergamasco Sheepdog is a medium-sized dog characterised by its tousled locks which give it a very dishevelled and friendly appearance; for this reason and because of its good character, it is becoming one of the best companion dogs.

The Pumi is a small to medium sized breed of dog originating in Hungary. They are herding dogs capable of gathering and working close to farm livestock, especially sheep, to keep them under control. 

Puli - also called Pulik and Hungarian Puli - is a small-medium dog breed from Hungary. They are used as sheepdogs and police dogs and are known for their long corded coat or dreadlocks.

The Mudi is a breed originating in Hungary and has traditionally been used for herding livestock. Its great intelligence and adaptability have meant that over the years these dogs have been used for a variety of tasks and disciplines. 

Bred for centuries as a guardian breed, the Kuvasz is protective of its home and loved ones by nature and tends to be wary of strangers. Gentle and loyal to his family, he needs a home where his owners have experience with watchdogs and can meet his specific needs.

The Komondor is a breed of guard and herding dog originating in Hungary. Its main characteristic is its striking white or ivory coloured coat, long, thick and hanging in long locks reminiscent of dreadlocks or the bristles of some types of mops

The Pyrenean Sheepdog is a French dog which exists in two varieties: the long-haired and the smooth-faced. Both are recognised as separate breeds by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale. The long-haired breed (or variety) is slightly smaller and, of course, has a longer coat. Both then and now, these dogs perform herding functions as they are a very intelligent and active breed.
