The Australian Silky terrier is a small breed of dog of the terrier type. The breed was developed in Australia, although the ancestors of the dogs were from Britain. It is closely related to the Australian terrier and Yorkshire terrier. In North America the breed is simply called the Silky Terrier, while in its country of origin - as well as in the rest of the world - it is called the Australian Silky Terrier.

The Australian terrier is one of the smallest terriers. In Australia they needed a guard dog capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of the island. For this, they started with a crossbreeding of several British terrier breeds to achieve the characteristics of this particular dog.

The Löwchen (German for ‘little lion’) is a rare breed of dog; to date there are less than a hundred new registrations of these dogs each year. At one time, like the Portuguese Spaniel and the Havanese, it was recognised as the ‘least common dog’ in the world.

The Miniature Pinscher is a breed of dog belonging to the Pinscher family originating in Germany, where they are called Zwergpinscher. It is a miniaturisation of the German Pinscher which was originally used for hunting birds, especially wild birds.

The Biewer Terrier is one of the breeds recognised by the FCI in the last few years, although they have been working on it since the 80's of the last century. This small long-haired dog is easily confused with the Yorkshire Terrier and, although they are related, the Biewer has some very clear differences. In this article we will talk about it.
