FORBIDDEN FOODS FOR DOGS
Dogs are an important part of our lives, and it's natural to want to share the food we enjoy with them. However, many foods that are safe for humans can be dangerous and even deadly for dogs. It is crucial to educate yourself about the foods that are off-limits to canines to ensure their health and well-being.
LIST OF PROHIBITED FOODS FOR DOGS
CHOCOLATE: Chocolate contains theobromine, a substance that is toxic to dogs. Eating chocolate can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, convulsions and even death in dogs.
GRAPES AND SULTANAS: These foods can cause kidney failure in dogs. Although it is not fully understood why, it is important to prevent dogs from consuming grapes and sultanas.
ONIONS AND GARLIC: Both onions and garlic contain compounds that can cause damage to red blood cells in dogs, which can result in anaemia.
AVOCADO: Avocado contains a toxin called persin, which is harmful to dogs and can cause stomach upset and even respiratory problems.
COOKED BONES: Although it may be tempting to give cooked bones to dogs, they can easily splinter and cause damage to the pet's intestines or throat.
ALCOHOL: Ingesting alcohol can cause poisoning in dogs, which can result in vomiting, diarrhoea, difficulty breathing and even death.
Knowledge of which foods are off-limits for dogs is essential to protect the health of our pets. If in doubt about whether a food is safe for your dog, it is always best to consult a veterinarian. At the end of the day, caring for the health and safety of our furry friends is a responsibility we carry with love and commitment.
